Brooklyn Youth Chorus in rehearsal with composer Missy Mazzoli
(Robert Maass)
On Monday, June 18 at 7 pm, Q2 Music presents a live videocast and audio stream of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus from The Greene Space at WQXR. The program features works by Missy Mazzoli, Bryce Dessner, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Shara Worden, John King and more.
Fresh off an appearance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Crossing Brooklyn Ferry series, this 20th-anniversary season for Brooklyn Youth Chorus has included performances with Kronos Quartet, New York and Brooklyn Philharmonics and at Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz's State of the Borough Address.
Featuring students ages 7 to 18, the ensemble has performed with the likes of Elton John, Lou Reed and Grizzly Bear; commissioned works by David Lang, Paul Moravec, Phil Kline, Fred Hersch, Nico Muhly and other composers; and runs a robust educational program.
Musicians included: Aleeza Meir, piano; David Han Marks, violin; Pala Garcia, violin; Eddy Malave, viola; Clara Kennedy, cello; Chihiro Shibayama, percussion; and Taylor Levine, guitar.
A produced version of this event will be featured on WQXR's McGraw Hill Companies Young Artists Showcase on June 27.
