Soprano Halley Gilbert, a graduate of Eastman School of Music (2007), has already distinguished herself in many operatic roles: Harrisburg Opera Associate - Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflote); Opera for Humanity - Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Gianetta (L'elisir D'amore); Eastman Opera Theater - Arminda (La Finta Giardiniera), La Fee (Cendrillon), Georgette (La Rondine). Ms. Gilbert has performed twice in Carnegie Hall, as the soprano soloist in Mozart's Requiem and the Durante Magnificat.
With the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, she debuted as Queen of the Night, (Die Zauberflote), in their "Mozart 101" series. She has also been a featured soloist with the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, Lake Placid Sinfonietta, Bergen Philharmonic, Genessee Chamber Orchestra, North Jersey Philharmonic, Oswego Opera Theater's recital series, and Gateway classical Music Society. This year, Ms. Gilbert won the Jenny Lind International Voice Competition and, last year, she made it to the regional finals of the Metropolitan Opera Competition. She is the winner of many awards including Syracuse Opera Club and first prize in the Steinway Hall Vocal Competition. The Greenwich Times has noted her "clear, velvety sound" while The San Francisco Chronicle praised her praised her "big, beautiful voice." The Lake Placid News recently pinned her as "a very gifted musician...A person to watch and whose performances will be well worth attending." Halley continues to perform and audition in NYC and the East Coast.

A recent finalist for the Met Opera National Council Auditions in New England, soprano Halley Gilbert will be making a splash this weekend at a performance in Van Courtland Park. Gilbert joins pianist Nicholas Fox for a live performance in the WQXR studios for a collection of arias and art songs.
