Last week, Q2 Music presented a 20th anniversary party for the Brooklyn Youth Chorus at The Greene Space hosted by the Young Artist Showcase's Bob Sherman. Brooklyn Youth Chorus artistic director Dianne Berkun conducted and spoke with Sherman about the chorus's educational program and what inspired her to found the ensemble 20 years ago.

The chorus includes 44 singers, ages 7 to 18. They’ve performed with such musical luminaries as Elton John, Lou Reed and the band Grizzly Bear.

Composers Missy Mazzoli and Sarah Kirkland Snider also spoke with Sherman and the chorus performed recent works by Bryce Dessner of the band The National, and Shara Worden, who's also known as My Brightest Diamond. The musicians joining the chorus were Aleeza Meir, piano; David Han Marks, violin; Pala Garcia, violin; Eddy Malave, viola; Clara Kennedy, cello; Chihiro Shibayama, percussion; and Taylor Levine, guitar.
