Live from (Le) Poisson Rouge on May 10, 2010

The young and daring Crash Ensemble has been around for 13 years and, like any teenager coming of age, has a rebellious streak. Showing off their wild side at (Le) Poisson Rouge, the group performed works by Terry Riley, David Lang, Steve Reich and their own artistic director Donnacha Dennehy on May 10.

An eclectic, multi-instrumental band from Ireland, Crash Ensemble has commissioned and premiered works of the most cutting edge variety, including those by composers ranging from Peter Adriaansz to Kevin Volans. They consider every aspect of their interdisciplinary performances--from lighting design to sound engineering and video production--important parts of their identity and cause. Fully established in the contemporary Irish musical domain, Crash Ensemble has successfully hosted their own international music festivals in Dublin, attracting composers and performers from around the world. Crash Ensemble has recorded with the NMC and Cantaloupe labels.
