Shy and Mighty
Composer/Pianist Timothy Andres Performs his Music for Piano Duo
Friday, July 16, 2010
Live from (Le) Poisson Rouge on May 17, 2010
Timothy Andres is a driving force in a new generation of composers who embrace the current sounds of popular music groups, including Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Arcade Fire and Boards of Canada. With a firm background in the classical tradition--having studied with Martin Bresnick and Ingram Marshall--Andres' music offers a compelling and thoughtful amalgamation of the best of both the contemporary classical and rock worlds. Shy and Mighty, while comprised of ten smaller pieces, is conceived as an album-length work and is the result of a long-standing collaboration with Yale classmate and Fulbright scholar David Kaplan.
