The third and final evening of the 2012 Look & Listen Festival at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery concluded with performances by young ensembles recognized for their virtuosity and advocacy for new music, including Brooklyn Rider, American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) and Janus Trio.

Hosted by Tracie Morris, poet, performer and associate professor of humanities and media studies at Pratt Institute, the show included the festival premiere of pianist-composer Michael Brown, offering original works and the music of Frederico Mompou, and clarinet-composer Derek Bermel in his own Thracian Sketches. 

The string quartet Brooklyn Rider performed Gyorgy Kurtag's Microludes; Janus Trio, comprised of flute, viola and harp, performed Anna Clyne's Beware Of and Caleb Burhans's Keymaster; and ACME performed ensemble pianist Timothy Andres's I Found it by the Sea. 

The festival through-line of arrangements of Derek Bermel's Orbit Designs continued with the world premiere of its string quartet arrangement, realized for Brooklyn Rider. The work was heard the first night in a version for percussion sextet, and the second night in a realization for flute trio.
