Tonight at 7pm, join me for a special pre-concert feature in anticipation of tonight's White Light festival concert, featuring music composed by Sigur Rós members Jón Þor "Jónsi" Birgisson and Kjartan Sveinsson, performed by the Hilliard Ensemble, the Latvian National chorus, and the Wordless Music Orchestra.

November's featured composer on Q2 is Angélica Negrón. Capturing fleeting, often over-looked moments of beauty in daily life, she channels them into a style that is wistfully idiosyncratic and contemplative.

Equipped with diverse musical interests, a keen programmatic awareness, and a vast repertoire, pianist Alexei Lubimov is not exactly a proponent of conventionality. The breadth of his musical interests are on full display as part of his two White Light Festival "Late-Night Elegies" recitals on November 11 and 13, both of which are being recorded at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse for future inclusion on WQXR and Q2.

On October 28, Lincoln Center launches a new annual fall festival, called the White Light Festival, which will focus, in the words of Lincoln Center Vice President of Programming Jane Moss, on "music's transcendent capacity to illuminate our larger interior universe." With live and delayed audio Webcasts from the festival and coverage of key musicians and ensembles, WQXR and Q2 throw back the veil of the introspective and contemplative White Light sound worlds.

On Friday, October 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m, Q2 spotlights the fertile, inclusive and high-octane music-making of composer Evan Ziporyn, whose opera, A House in Bali, receives its New York premiere this week at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. For 3 continuous hours, enjoy full sonic immersion in Zipoyrn's diverse music worlds with recordings ranging from the percussion virtuosity of  So Percussion to live performances by Zyporyn's Gamelan Galak Tika from the 2010 Bang on a Can Marathon.

Tonight at 6 p.m. Q2 presents the remaining twelve finalists of Project 440, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra's initiative in which young composers compete to get one of four commissions from the orchestra.

This week, Q2 is spotlighting the technology-obsessed composer and artist Tristan Perich. Watch a video of his 1-Bit Symphony and grab a free download.

Today: Satisfy your sweet tooth while feasting on contemporary music as WQXR/Q2 host the Second Annual New Music Bake Sale live from Irondale Center in Brooklyn. 

In conjunction with Obsessive Choral with Nico Muhly, Q2 is pleased to offer a free, limited-time download of the title track from Nico Muhly's new choral album, "A Good Understanding." This track, courtesy of Decca Records, will be available through Sunday, September 19.

Join Q2 Saturday, September 11 for a 24-hour retrospective of Arvo Pärt, the contemporary Estonian composer known for his austere and mystical works. The all-day event not only marks Pärt's 75th birthday but also provides a poignant soundtrack to the anniversary of 9/11.

Starting Monday, August 30, Q2 turns over the internet airwaves to the vibrant young composer Paola Prestini in the latest installation of our Composer Introductions series. Listen at the top of every hour Monday as Prestini introduces her own work and get a free download of Labyrinth.

Today, Q2 offers 24 straight hours of music composed by the 30 remaining Project 440 artists. With the field about to be narrowed for a second time, it's an opportunity to hear pieces -- including broadcast premieres -- from composers shaping the canon of tomorrow.

This Sunday, August 15 at 7 p.m., join Q2 for 5 consecutive hours of mind-bending, internationally-flavored sounds from this most quintessential New York New Music happening: the Bang on a Can Marathon from the World Financial Center Winter Garden.

Starting Monday, July 26, Q2 shines its spotlight on the young Frenchman Florent Ghys, who is quickly making a mark on the New Music scene, both in New York and abroad. Join us for a special weeklong focus on his music including new, unreleased tracks and a free download of his Hommage à Jacob Ter Veldhuis, available for a limited time.

From start to 'Finnish' on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, Q2 gives the internet airwaves over to Finland. 24-Hour Finn is the first in a series of continuous, day-long spotlights of different facets of today’s diverse and thriving New Music scene. Nadia Sirota, who just returned from touring in Iceland and Europe, hosts 24-Hour Finn.
