Q2 Concert Pick: Hello Earth!
Two Inimitable Vocalists find Common Ground
Thursday, March 10, 2011
This Friday, March 11 at Symphony Space, vocalist Theo Bleckmann presents his re-imaginings of the songs of Kate Bush, the British singer-songwriter who skyrocketed to fame in the mid-80's with her unorthodox but compelling approach to music-making. The project is entitled Hello Earth! - the music of Kate Bush and Bleckmann will be joined by the impressive roster of John Hollenbeck, Skuli Sverrisson, Henry Hey and Caleb Burhans.
You can hear above an earlier incarnation of Hello Earth! that Q2 recorded at Greenwich Village's (Le) Poisson Rouge back in September. In true and typical Ecstatic Music Festival fashion, this cross-pollination between artists of disparate music backgrounds produces a compelling, artistically-coherent product that is both unexpected and rewarding.
