This summer, Q2 Music put out a call soliciting demo tapes from the next generation of would-be radio hosts. The overwhelming response of quality submissions proves the abundance of passionate advocates for new music in New York alone, and we want to thank whole-heartedly everyone who took the time to craft and send us a demo tape! Your commitment to our shared mission to promote 21st century classical music is an inspiration.

That being said, we could only select a few hosts to introduce to Q2 Music listeners at this time. Over the next few weeks, you will get to know these select few. We hope you enjoy their insights and anecdotes as much as we do. Help us welcome:

The Brothers Balliett

Brad Balliett is a New York City-based bassoonist and composer who is gaining a reputation for unusual and thought-provoking programming, performance and composition. As a bassoonist, Brad performs as a member of several groups around New York City, including The Declassified, Metropolis Ensemble, Signal, the Sinfonietta of Riverdale, Anthony Braxton's Trillium Orchestra and Ensemble ACJW, and is a founding member of The Declassified, DZ4 and the Deviant Septet. | Full Bio. 

Doug Balliett is a prolific artist whose career has spanned classical performance, composition, rap, rock, spoken word, period performance and conducting. As a double bassist he has performed with Alarm Will Sound, Ensemble Modern, the Ensemble Modern Orchestra, the San Antonio Symphony (principal and assistant principal), and the Metropolis Ensemble. | Full Bio

Suzanne Farrin

Suzanne Farrin is a composer based in New York City whose music has been performed by many of the great musicians of today. She is Associate Professor of Composition and Director of the Conservatory of Music at the State University of New York (SUNY) Purchase and holds a doctorate in composition from Yale University. "Corpo di Terra," released on New Focus Recordings, is devoted entirely to her music, which may also be heard on the VAI, Signum Classics and Albany Records labels. | Full Bio.

Charlotte Mundy

Charlotte Mundy spends most of her time singing, listening to or thinking about contemporary music. She hosted a weekly new-music show on CIUT FM in Toronto. Recently noted by the New York Times for her performance of "tart and gangly lines, well sung," she has sung in forests and abandoned warehouses, while playing a hot tub/balnophone hybrid instrument outside in the middle of winter and another time while wearing an 8-channel speaker-suit. | Full Bio.
