As part of Music of Constant Change, Q2 Music unearths diverse historic interviews with the preeminent American composer, Philip Glass, collected from the 75-year-old icons's many visits to New York Public Radio.
Every day at 6 pm from September 4-9, hear the esteemed composer speak on topics such as developing a personal sound, writing for theater and film, and the various and unexpected day jobs he has held along the way.

Tuesday, September 4:First broadcast in 1978, this episode of New, Old and Unexpected with Tim Page marked the radio debut of Einstein on the Beach. Hear the composer discuss the opera’s thematic material and the process of editing the work for airplay.
Wednesday, September 5: What would Philip Glass need to survive in complete isolation? Find out on this episode of Survival Kit with Leonard Lopate from 2003. Also hear the composer discuss the importance of both writing and performing music, and how the two inform one another.
Thursday, September 6: Curious what Philip Glass was like as a young man? On this episode of Meet the Composer from 1985, Glass talks about his days as a student, and the process of breaking the mold to develop a personal sound. He also discusses changes in how his music relates to the next generation of audiences.
Friday, September 7: Among his many appearances on WNYC, Philip Glass has been a frequent guest on The Leonard Lopate Show. Today’s interviews from 2007 and 2008 showcase several conversations with the composer and cover a wide range of topics from working with choreographers to the release of the Glass Box retrospective CD set.
Saturday, September 8: Among his many accomplishments, Philip Glass is known as a prolific composer for film. Today features a 2002 appearance on The Leonard Lopate Show, as well as a New Sounds episode from 1985. Hear the composer discuss his relationship with filmmakers and the process of scoring a movie.
Sunday, September 9: In this episode of Soundcheck from 2002, the composer discusses some of the odd jobs he has held throughout his career. He also delves into the development of the new-music scene in New York, and how he defined success for himself along the way.
