Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and Bang on a Can co-founder David Lang hosts a two-part series beginning Wednesday, Mar. 6 that explores how the breakthroughs of musical abstraction in the years 1910 to 1925 have found renewed voice in the music of today. Part One, "The Consonant Show," streams Wednesday, Mar. 6 at 7 pm; Part Two, "The Dissonant Show," streams Thursday, Mar. 7 at 7 pm.

Part Two, "The Dissonant Show," begins with "Farben" from Arnold Schoenberg's Five Pieces for Orchestra (Fünf Orchesterstücke), Op. 16 (1909) and explores how the game-changing Austrian composer's complex and rigorously intense music has been adopted and transformed in the music of more current composers including Morton Feldman, Julia Wolfe and Glenn Branca.
