Saturday Morning Cartoons: Bugs Bunny Brings Down the House
Saturday, February 18, 2012
For this week's cartoon, we have selected the Beautiful Galatea overture by Franz von Suppe. This piece can be heard in the 1948 Looney Tunes cartoon Long-Haired Hare.
Bugs Bunny is at war with a pompous opera singer who rehearses "Largo al Factotum" (from this Saturday's Metropolitan Opera, The Barber of Seville) at the beginning of the cartoon. Their confrontations culminate with Bugs assuming the guise of conductor Leopold Stokowski in order to conclude his revenge on the singer.

Priceless, indeed, but there's a lot more where that came from, including Rossini's William Tell overture conducted by Sir Mickey Mouse, as well as Bugs and Elmer in that crazy mix of Walkuere and Tannnhaeuser
I remember this as my first exposure to classical music - priceless.
LOL as always. Love that Giovani Jones.
