Saturday Morning Cartoons: Animated Inspiration
Saturday, January 28, 2012
WQXR’s China in New York festival comes to a close Saturday. In honor of the festival, for this week’s cartoon is the 1946 Tom & Jerry ’toon The Cat Concero featuring Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in C-sharp Minor.
The connection between Tom & Jerry, Liszt and China may not immediately make sense, but 29-year-old pianist Lang Lang, who has been featured during this festival, says this cartoon helped get him interested in playing the piano.

What time on saturday does this program air?
Very funny
One of my fave T & J episodes! Great depiction of nuanced emotion in Tom's animation in the beginning.
Cat's don't have thumbs.
Tom Cat plays amazingly well for only having two thumbs and six fingers! Great series.
