The New York City Opera opened its season last night in the newly refurbished David H. Koch Theater.
But this was not a normal opening night.
The theater got some very specific renovations in the off-season, including structural changes and the removal of a controversial electronic sound enhancement system.
In a special arts report on WQXR, Justin Davidson, a classical music and architecture critic for New York magazine, talks to WNYC's Kerry Nolan about what opening night sounded like, and if the changes to the theater made a difference.
