President Barack Obama has taken his health care reform package on the road. He was in Philadelphia on Monday. He heads to St. Louis on Wednesday.
"Let's seize reform. It's within our grasp," the president urged Congress at Arcadia University yesterday, according to The Associated Press. The president wants Congress to focus on health care and pass a bill in the next several weeks.
But in Washington, jobs legislation is on Congress' agenda today. The Senate is expected to cast a test vote on legislation that would extend unemployment insurance and prevent doctors from absorbing a cut in Medicare payments. The bill contains new versions of several tax breaks which expired last year.
The AP reports that Democrats need at least one Republican vote to reach the 60-vote threshold to guarantee an up-or-down vote.
