Don’t Miss: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, July 8
The City of London Festival lives up to its name by presenting music, visual arts, films and talks in the city’s buildings and outdoor spaces. This year, it’s also celebrating International Year of Biodiversity, as the organizers have installed beehives all around the city's financial district. There will be lots of bee-inspired music, including a piece for 21 pianos (one for each of Chopin's Nocturnes) by Richard Causton. But for sheer visual splendor, check out the weekly concerts in St Paul’s Cathedral. Among them is a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 by the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir John Eliot Gardiner (8 July).
