WQXR is a media partner for Westchester Oratorio Society’s "To the Glory of Spring" concert with REBEL Baroque ensemble, featuring works by Vivaldi and Haydn.
Join Westchester Oratorio Society on Sunday afternoon May 4, 3 PM, at the South Salem Presbyterian Church for a special concert entitled, “To the Glory of Spring,” accompanied by the acclaimed REBEL Baroque Ensemble on period instruments. The performance features three choral works: Vivaldi, “Gloria," Haydn "Kleine Orgelmesse” and Bach “Hallelujah BWV 143.”
Soloists will be Miriam Chaudoir, soprano, Corrine Byrne, soprano and Biraj Barkakaty, countertenor.
REBEL will also perform three instrumental pieces, Vivaldi "Concerto per archi in G minor RV 156,” Bach, “Concerto for Oboe d’amore after BWV 1055" and Hasse "Fuga & Grave in G minor.”
A pre-concert talk will be given by John Moran, musicologist (Ph.D., King's College, London) and REBEL baroque cellist and viola da gamba. player, from 2 pm to 2:30 pm, free to ticket holders. Mr. Moran specializes in the historically informed performance of music and teaches at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.
