The Academy of American Poets presents "Poetry & the Creative Mind," with Paul Simon, Mohammed Fairouz, Amy Ryan, and more reading poems at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall on April 27 in celebration of National Poetry Month.

Music legend Paul Simon, actress Amy Ryan, chef & food critic Ruth Reichl, singer-songwriter Regina Spektor, composer Mohammed Fairouz, visual artist Lesley Dill, choreographer Bill T. Jones, "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner, Brain Pickings founder Maria Popova, and poet/memoirist Elizabeth Alexander will read their favorite poems in celebration of the 20th anniversary of National Poetry.

The annual event promotes the importance of our country’s rich poetic legacy and also raises critical funds for the nonprofit organization's education programs, which include free lesson plans and resources for teachers on Poets.org, the world’s largest publicly-funded website for poets and poetry, and a special writing project for thousands of students.
