The Academy of American Poets: National Poetry Month

National Poetry Month is the largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, K-12 teachers, librarians, booksellers, literary events curators, publishers, bloggers, and, of course, poets marking poetry’s important place in our culture and our lives.

A highlight of the month is the Poetry & the Creative Mind Gala at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, featuring leading and legendary actors, dancers, artists, musicians, and public figures on one stage celebrating poetry’s important place in our culture, and its impact on the lives of readers and artists working in other disciplines. This year the event will take place on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
