Downloading the WQXR Mobile App

The WQXR Mobile App is currently available for iPhones (iOS 4 and later) and iPads in the iTunes App Store and Android phones (Android 2.2 and later) in the Google Play Store.

To download the app to your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Make sure you're connected to the internet. 
  2. Open the App Store. 
  3. In the search bar in the top right, search for WQXR Classical. 
  4. Under iPhone or iPad Apps, you should see the WQXR Classical Music Radio New York app. Click the FREE button.
  5. The FREE button should turn into an INSTALL button. Click the INSTALL button. (If you're asked for a password, use the one associated with your iTunes account.)
  6. The WQXR app will begin downloading to your device. Once it's done, open and listen!

To download the app to your Android phone:

  1. Make sure you're connected to the internet.
  2. Open the Play Store.
  3. Click on the magnifying glass and search for WQXR Classical.
  4. Under apps, you should see the WQXR New York Classical Music app. Click on it.
  5. This should take you to a page about this app. Click the Install button. Your phone will let you know what data the app can access on your phone. Click the Accept & download button if you accept these conditions.
  6. The WQXR app will begin downloading to your device. Once it's done, click open and listen!

Listening to WQXR

Once you've downloaded the WQXR Mobile App, you can listen to a live stream of 105.9 FM WQXR directly from your device. 

To listen to WQXR, click the big play button. To listen to Q2 or one of our other streams, click the blue tab with the name of the stream first, then click the play button.

Continue listening as you explore the latest news, features, and blog posts from WQXR.org on the Home screen of the app. Collapse or expand the radio player by clicking on the speaker icon in the top right.  

Real Time Playlists

The radio player tells you what's playing now. To find out what just played, click on the Playlists section. Scroll down to see what played earlier in the day or use the tabs to see what played on our other streams. Scroll all the way up to refresh the playlist.

On-Demand Programs

To listen to any of our archived episodes, start by going to the Programs section. Scroll to explore which programs are available for on-demand streaming. Click on the image for the program you'd like to hear. Once you're on the page for the program, click "Listen" to hear the most recent episode or scroll through the archive to find past episodes.

Support WQXR

Our app features an easy-to-use, simplified mobile pledge form. Choose a dollar amount, fill out a few personal details, and you're good to go!

Get More From Your App

Go to the More section to set your alarm clock to one of our live streams, request a piece of music to be played during our weekday noon request hour on WQXR, buy tickets to live events in The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, or search for stories and music of particular interest to you.
