(New York, NY – September 13, 2016) – Starting today, Q2 Music – WQXR’s online music channel dedicated to musical discovery and living composers – launches the second season of “LPR Live,” a unique podcast series that gives audiences access to world-class new-music performances recorded live at one of New York City’s leading downtown music venues, Le Poisson Rouge.

The new season of “LPR Live” will be hosted by new music champion John Schaefer (WNYC’s Soundcheck and New Sounds) and will feature a range of artists including electronic and chamber-music polymaths Bing & Ruth and Daniel Wohl; composer-performers Sarah Neufeld and GABI, who seamlessly blend conservatory training with indie-rock sensibility; a pair of ensembles redefining common perceptions of modern Classical music: Ensemble LPR and the dance music-meets-Philip Glass piano duo of Francesco Tristano and Bruce Brubaker; as well as the ambient chamber outfit Port St. Willow, fast-rising experimental music darling Eartheater, programming wizard Dan Trueman, and the rollicking Norwegian electro-jazz ensemble Jaga Jazzist.

Episode One – out today – features the title track from Canadian violinist-composer and Arcade Fire band-member Sarah Neufeld’s debut solo album, “The Ridge,” and backstage conversation about the discipline and inspirations that fire her creative process.

The podcast will also include intimate interviews with Q2 Music producers and audience members.

“We’re thrilled to release a second season of LPR Live,” said Alex Ambrose, Managing Producer, Q2 Music. There is an exciting, evolving conversation happening between seemingly distinct musical forms and terminologies, between classical, jazz, electronic and indie-rock.  LPR Live captures this energy, and bring audiences around the globe a front-row seat to this musical intermingling happening in Downtown NYC.”

"LPR is delighted to be kicking off another season of LPR Live with our partners Q2 Music,” said David Handler, Co-Founder of Le Poisson Rouge and Founding Artistic Director of Ensemble LPR. “This season features an especially eclectic mix of some of the boldest voices in new music. I continue to be impressed and inspired by the breadth of Q2 Music's musical interests, and the ease with which our philosophies and curatorial personalities align. This is just the beginning of what we have in store."
