This week, the Ford Foundation announced it would give out $100 million dollars over the next ten years to arts groups nationwide for the construction, maintenance and enhancement of arts facilities. In this week's Arts File on WQXR, WNYC's Kerry Nolan spoke with Luis Ubiñas, the president of the Ford Foundation, about the inspiration for "Supporting Diverse Arts Spaces," Ford's new endowment. Kerry Nolan also talked with Rosalba Rolon, the founder and artistic director of Pregones Theater. Pregones is one of the arts groups in the South Bronx that has, in the run-up to the launch of Ford's new arts construction grants, received Ford funding. It was once a traveling theater company focusing on Latino theater artists, but with the financial help of Ford has been able to expand and rennovate its own theater space.
