Changing of the Guard at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival
Friday, March 19, 2010
Since 1975, the Glimmerglass Opera Festival has filled the upstate air with summers of opera. Starting in September, the company will have a new general and artistic director, Francesca Zambello. She'll take over for outgoing director, Michael MacLeod, who is leaving the company to explore other opportunities.
In this week's Arts File on WQXR, WNYC's Kerry Nolan talks to Zambello, who is currently artistic advisor at the San Francisco Opera and is directing Porgy and Bess at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, about her move to Glimmerglass and the personal stamp she hopes to put on the company.
