It's no secret that the recession has hit the New York theater world hard. Declining ticket revenue, dwindling budgets and fewer tourists have sometimes meant very bad news for many smaller theatres. But lately, some Off Broadway theater companies have been seeing signs of hope.
In this week's Arts File on WQXR, WNYC's Kerry Nolan talks to Miriam Souccar, who covers arts and culture for Crain's New York Business, about how Off Broadway companies are priming the pump and improvements in their bottom lines.
