Andy Warhol-Influenced Production Earns Encore
Wednesday, January 25, 2012
January is the season for new and experimental theater in New York. But a work that was new last year at the Under the Radar festival has earned a return engagement at the Public Theater in the East Village through Feb. 5.
It's a piece by Gob Squad, a troupe founded in Nottingham and based in Berlin. Gob Squad places emphases on using other media in their performances and involving the audience. Charles Isherwood, critic for The New York Times, says that's exactly what they do in Gob Squad's Kitchen (You Never Had It So Good), a work which features live homages to celebrated if rarely viewed Andy Warhol movies.
