Episode #108
L'Arpeggiata Performs Southern European Baroque Music
Thursday, March 15, 2012
A pan-European ensemble dedicated to re-imagining French, Italian and Spanish Baroque music, L’Arpeggiata's performances have been described as "baroque jam sessions."
Led by Austrian theorbo player Christina Pluhar, L’Arpeggiata is the first early-music group to participate in a Perspectives series at Carnegie Hall. In this program at Zankel Hall they trace the passion story through Corsican folk music, as well as sacred Italian and German music by Monteverdi, Cazzati, Biber and others. It's a style that Pluhar calls "Living Baroque."
Joining the ensemble is the male vocal ensemble Barbara Furtuna, which specializes in Corsican polyphonic Chant.

Beautiful, interesting....please come to the early music festival in Boston a year from this coming June!
When will the concert be available for playing again?
Will this performance be available for listening online after the live broadcast (as the last episode was)? Some of us in other time zones could not tune in.
I am so grateful to all who keep this magical and thrilling music alive. Thank you for broadcasting it!
