Great literary sources are to be found in this week's Choral Fixation. The program ranges from Beethoven's setting of Goethe and Gerald Finzi's setting of Robert Bridges poems to David Lang's Pulitzer Prizing-winning piece based on Hans Christian Andersen.

Johannes Brahms: Zwei Motetten Op. 29

Orlande de Lassus: Stabat Mater

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Regina coeli, K. 127 (Queen of Heaven)

Gavin Bryars: Incipit Vita Nova

David Lang: The Little Match Girl Passion

Gerald Finzi: Seven Partsongs, Op. 17: Nightingales

William Ferris: Lyrica Sacra

Ludwig van Beethoven: Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage, Op. 112

Another great "Fixation" -- this is the BEST PART of the switch to being a public station!!!

How about featuring great local volunteer-but-as-good-as-professional choruses!!? :-D

How about a Choral Fixation blog and calendar for metro choral music events (the "old" QXR had that...)

Unfortunately I will I have to miss half of today's program because I'll be singing in a little while and can't pick up WQXR in my car anymore -- sigh!!. Move the repeater to Newburgh so we can hear QXR again in Orange/lower Dutchess Counties -- almost a half million people here you know!! (Plus 2 orchestras, at least 4 community choruses, 3 opera companies . . . LOTS OF SUPPORTERS!!)
