This week we’ll delve into the rich musical history of Hungary, starting with ancient sacred music and working our way through Liszt, Kodaly, Bartók and Hungarian gypsy music.

I very much enjoyed the scintillating series on the music of Hungary. I know you included him in the series on film music, but Miklos Rozsa should have been included in this one too, at least for his concert music. Also, to balance the classical music, more attention could have been given to the pure folk music (which is distinct from gypsy music). Still, a very commendable survey. Kudos!

Thank you for the beautiful program of the
"Magyars". I enjoyed every minute of it.
How can I get a CD of this program?
I have been enjoying your programs. Programs like yours are rare to find. Thanks for the Magyar series as it is my
heritage.
Glad to hear Hungarian music on WQXR, sadly often neglected.
Enjoyed the show!
Check out Adam Gyorgy a great Hungarian pianist.
We have enjoyed this series immensely. Sadly we don't get to listen as often as 11pm is late for us. How about moving it back to 7 or 8 pm.

Have been totally enjoying all your programming. This Magyar series has been great fun. A great way to spend at least an hour at the drawing table. Glad you got pretty close to the correct pronunciation of Magyar but you're making one serious error that when corrected will alleviate a good deal of the problems. Accents are always on the first syllable. You've been doing the Italianate next to last.
On Monday, August 9, 2010 You played a delightful piece by Pal Esterhazy entitled, "Harmonium Caelestis". After searching your playlist, I found that this work was not listed as having been played. I would appreciate any information you can give me as to how I can purchase this recording, and exactly which recording it was based on performers, label, etc. Thanks for your cooperation.
