Benjamin Grosvenor’s first piano teacher when he was 6-years-old was his mother. By 13, he was studying piano intently at the Royal Academy of Music in London. At this Concert from the Frick Collection, the young British pianist presents pieces from across two centuries.

Now 19-years-old, Grosvenor makes his New York recital debut with works by Bach, Chopin, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Ravel and WQXR’s former program director, Abram Chasins

Among this array of pieces he performs one of the most demanding works in piano repertoire, Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit, also featured on his recent debut release from Decca.
