The chronological choice is brilliant. The first half ends with a reference to the aftermath of a great war, the greatest of all wars. We are made familiar with the outcome. In the second half, after the intermission, a piece written just before World War II, full of a premonition that throws everything in relief, in our modern times and in every time.
The Spring for Music series has been spectacular, AND it's being carried on my local NPR station WITF in Harrisburg PA but it's so great to be able to hear the concerts I wasn't able to hear at the broadcast time and to hear them again. WQXR is the greatest and deserving of my financial support
