Julie Taymor's colorful, whimsical production of Mozart's The Magic Flute has been a certifiable hit since its debut in 2004. This week's broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera brings back the director's collection of dancing pink flamingos on stilts, huge polar bear puppets and even a flying lobster. Soprano Albina Shagimuratova plays the Queen of the Night, tenor Matthew Polenzani is the Egyptian prince Tamino and tenor Nathan Gunn is the birdcatcher Papageno. Adam Fischer, a noted Mozartian, conducts.

I saw this opera live on Tuesday evening--thanks for the opportunity to listen again.
For Pat O'Hara: Same here, but the workaround is to click the drop down arrow for Other Formats and pick Windows (if that's your OS).
I've been a regular listener since my father introduced me to the Met Radio Broadcasts in 1936. You do this person a great service in your weekly broadcasts and I thank the foundations and Toll Brothers, but specially WQXR Radio for their contributions to the program. ...e

Then happy to find 105.9 brought me the opera on my computer but I could not get any sound today~~~I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas.?Thanks. Pat
