Ira Siff's comments enlighten me every time I hear him. The critic above must have some ax to grind.
My reception in Israel is CD quality superb. The future of WQXR is streameing, online audio. I would even pay to keep that going. Not so sure about a payed subscription to the NY Times. :P

What kind of antenna are you using for FM?
My FM signal in midtown Manhattan is scratchy and painful. The RCN cable modem signal frequently stops. I am just giving up on WQXR. Just sell that station .
Margaret Juntwait does an excellent job.
Ira Siff is not only superfluous but his interruptions
are annoying.

The internet is a digital and thus some would say perfect rendition, not dependent on radio waves. With FM power now at 600 watts instead of 6000, some locations even close in might be having a hard time.
The 128kbit web stream is "CD quality". You can use good computer speakers, if ytou want recommendations, I can tell you at least what i use and am happy with.
Or, if the computer can be close enough to your stereo system, you can connect with a single cord, from your computer speaker jack (3.5 mini) to the right and left RCA line level inpout jacks for auxiliary or whatever on your receiver.
FM and web streaming have technically nothing in common.
Long a fan of QQXR at its old wavelength, I am very disappointed to find that at 105.9 reception in the Flushing, NY area is usually very poor (using my stereo receiver). Internet reception today is excellent. Why the difference? and are there plans to strengthen the signal?
