Midday host Midge Woolsey has proudly served the tri-state community as a broadcaster for 25 years. She joined WQXR in 1993 and most recently served as weekday evening host. For public television’s flagship station Thirteen/WNET she hosted specials such as Andrea Bocelli’s Emmy nominated Statue of Liberty Concert, The Three Tenors with James Levine live from Paris and the landmark 24-hour event PBS Millennium 2000.
Midge has hosted numerous fundraising events, including A Tale of Two Cities, Remember Me with David Parsons Dance and the East Village Opera Company and Conspirare in Concert. She has interviewed celebrities on camera such as Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Renee Fleming, Walter Cronkite, Barbara Walters, Richie Havens, Josh Groban, Harry Belafonte and Yogi Berra. Behind-the-scenes, Woolsey worked with Jac Venza for Great Performances, the award winning PBS series of international music, dance and drama programs. She also served as production executive for award winning producer David Grubin. With Grubin, she worked on several acclaimed historical documentaries for the PBS series The American Experience and on the poetry series The Language of Life with Bill Moyers. Woolsey has degrees in theater and music and has worked as both director/choreographer and performer in more than 100 productions. She has sung with the New York Pops in Carnegie Hall and Bryant Park, with the Lyrics and Lyricists series at the 92nd Street Y and in shows of her own creation in venues such as Neue Galerie and BAMcafe.
