In Like a Lion: Music for Cinematic Storms
Saturday, March 02, 2013
Extreme weather has played a prominent role in movies from "The Wizard of Oz" to "Life of Pi." Roaring thunder and flashing lightning have accompanied many a film climax. The drama of movie storms is usually enhanced by roiling music and orchestral cloudbursts, so there's a grand tradition of music for cinematic storms.
Bringing March in like a lion, David Garland presents some tumultuously dramatic scores for storm scenes, including "The Wizard of Oz," "Life of Pi," "The Impossible," "Stormy Weather," "The Perfect Storm," "King Lear," and even multiple storm scenes by Bernard Herrmann. Plus some contrasting moments so you can catch your breath and towel off.
