Live at 8 pm on Tuesday, October 23 from the World Financial Center's Winter Garden
Tuesday, October 23, 2012
On Tuesday, October 23 at 8 pm ET, Q2 Music partners with New Sounds Live to present a live audio webcast of the dynamic, 12-piece Afrobeat ensemble Antibalas and multi-instrumentalist songwriter Ted Leo interpreting the music of Hugh Masekela. This is the first of three shows from October 23-25 from the World Financial Center's Winter Garden hosted by WNYC's John Schaefer.
Born in a Brooklyn warehouse in 1997, Antibalas has introduced Afrobeat to a global audience and influenced countless musicians in the process. The large ensemble has shared a stage globally with the likes of Public Enemy, Paul Simon, The Roots and Medeski Martin & Wood, among others, and several members collaborated on the hit musical FELA! Indie-punk icon Ted Leo performs an intimate performance of the music of Hugh Masekela to open the show.
