On Wednesday, October 24 at 8 pm ET, Q2 Music partners with New Sounds Live to present the eclectic composer-pianist Vijay Iyer in an exciting double billing with composer's Missy Mazzoli's dynamic all-female band, Victoire. This is the second of three shows from October 23-25 from the World Financial Center's Winter Garden hosted by WNYC's John Schaefer.
Award-winning, polymath pianist and composer Vijay Iyer is a post-modern Renaissance man whose cross-cultural collaborations have included a variety of artists. Iyer's harmonically rich writing and crafty arrangements are adventurous and unpredictable, whether he is taking on Michael Jackson, filtering Duke Ellington through a gospel lens or presenting his own originals. New-music mainstay Missy Mazzoli leads Victoire with its strings, keyboards, clarinets and electronics performing a hypnotic blend of dreamy chamber pop, minimalism and rich romanticism.
