Some of life's important events happen to fall in November--like voting, honoring our veterans, and eating pumpkin pie. Lots of music has been inspired by the month of November, too.
This week, we listen to composers that have written tributes related to the eleventh month, whether it's honoring a solider or simply motivated by the spirit of autumn. From the cold air forecasting winter to the bitter end of the Great War, the events of November serve as endless inspiration.

The day that Cassandra Wilson and Neil Young are as amazing as it gets, it clearly isn't getting amazing anymore.
cassandra wilson and neil young, about as amazing as it gets. stop with this kvetching and mewing dudes.
WNYC's ads tout the "new" WQXR as being a classical music station. Do you know the meaning of that word? Here's a defintion:
4. Music.
a. of, pertaining to, or constituting the formally and artistically more sophisticated and enduring types of music, as distinguished from popular and folk music and jazz. Classical music includes symphonies, operas, sonatas, song cycles, and lieder.
b. of, pertaining to, characterized by, or adhering to the well-ordered, chiefly homophonic musical style of the latter half of the 18th and the early 19th centuries: Haydn and Mozart are classical composers.
Oh good lord, not again with the jazz. Please stop it! I wish New York had a classical music station like it used to... This is very frustrating.
