'Suor Angelica' from Puccini's 'Il Trittico.' Suor Angelica from Puccini's Il Trittico. (Hanover State Opera)

• Listen to the Operavore stream

The individual, one-act dramas of Puccini's Il Trittico are all popular in their own right. Yet we seldom get the chance that this production from Germany offers: to hear all three operas in one sitting, as the composer first envisioned.

This production from the Hanover State Opera stars baritone Brian Davis and soprano Kelly God as the troubled couple in Il Tabarro; soprano Miriam Gordon-Stewart in the title role of Suor Angelica; and baritone Stefan Adam as the charismatic rogue who steals the show -- and a whole lot more -- in Gianni Schicchi. The production is led by the American conductor Karen Kamensek.

Wonder whether the Met could consider having, say, a 5:45 performance of the 3 with an intermission after the first opera long enough for dinner.

Is anyone aware that Operavore is "stuck", and Joan Sutherland is caught in some sort of coloratura hell singing the same couple of bars from the Bell Song over and over and over and OVER???
