Host Duncan Pirnie begins with a dedication to WQXR host Alma Dettinger, of the daily interview show Other People's Business which was on WQXR from 1941-1960. He then acts out a true story about the inauguration of the NBC Symphony Orchestra in 1937, followed by an excerpt from a November 2, 1967 episode of Pru Devon's November Nights in Latin America with a performance of an Argentinian zamba.

A special 50th anniversary edition of The Music Section presented by WQXR host George Edwards remembers Oct. 25, 1936. Edwards begins with news headlines, and features an excerpt of the world premiere of Dvorak's first symphony in Czechoslovakia; and Lieutenant Kije by Sergei Prokofiev, performed by Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra. After a look at upcoming musical performances in New York with the Concert Roundup, Edwards plays two tracks performed by opera singer John Charles Thomas: "Largo Al Factotum" from Rossini's The Barber of Seville and "Take Me Back to My Boots and Saddles".
