When the McGraw Hill Young Artists Showcase first went on the air in January of 1978, it regularly featured studio performances and conversations with the artists.
The grand tradition is re-born this week as we spend an intriguing hour with the Amstel Quartet of Saxophones. Based in the Netherlands, the group is here on an American tour and ready to share with us their transcriptions of music by Mozart and Ravel, plus the fianle of an original concerto for saxophones by Philip Glass.
The compete program:
Michael Nyman: Here and There
Mozart: Fugue in C MInor, K.546
Glass: Concerto for Saxophone Quartet, finale
Ravel: Pavane
Rabih Abou-Jhalil: Arabian Waltz
Beautiful, artistic playing!! Love the group.
Amazing! Always showing, why Amstel Quartet is the best saxophone quartet in the world.
