Two vigorous performances by the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra under Raphael Jimenez bookend this week’s Young Artist Showcase.
First off, a haunting piece called Mozart’s Hymn by American composer Daniel Kellogg; and as a coda, a crisp performance of the finale from Beethoven’s "Pastoral" Symphony.

The Young Artist Showcase has been going strong since 1978, but with more than 50 years of nurturing young talent, the Young Concert Artists has the YAS beat. Many of today’s stars got their start with YCA, including Emanuel Ax, who said, “It is because of Young Concert Artists that I am able to make music today."
