At the 2012 iPalpiti Festival
This week, the Young Artists Showcase listens in on a major string festival that’s been building on the West Coast for the past 15 years, the iPalpiti Festival of International Laureates. This past summer, the iPalpiti Festival held its grand finale performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. The festival focuses on string orchestra, but also includes chamber music opportunities. In addition to rarely-heard works by Britten, Enesco, and David Popper, we’ll hear Dvorak’s gracious Serenade for Strings, Op 22, and a surprisingly delightful Polka by Alfred Schnittke – all recorded live in concert, and conducted by founding director, Eduard Schmieder.
