WQXR returns to the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland. Founded in 1938, this six-week event on the edge of Lake Lucerne attracts many top-name classical soloists and orchestras from around the world. Concerts take place in the KKL, a dramatic concert hall designed by Jean Nouvel that opened in 1998. In 2013 the festival marks its 75th year with the theme of "Revolution." The programming extends from Gesualdo through Beethoven, Berlioz, Schoenberg, Shostakovich and other composers with a revolutionary bent.
