IF you are featuring, on Symphony Hall, works which showcase winds and brass, how is it that the Hindemith Symphony in B-Flat for Winds has escaped you?
WQXR clearly avoids this important and influential composer, who also happens to have a following.
Bill McLaghlin has already used two Hindemith excerpts this week on his 11PM program, the from the Symphonic Metamorphoses and from the Trauermusik for Viola and Strings.
Bill McLaghlin is by profession a conductor and an educator, so he that knows what is musical and what is good, and so he demonstrates in his selections.
