The violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter is the New York Philharmonic's artist in residence this season. In that role, she will perform with orchestra members on 13 occasions as both soloist and/or conductor. She recently kicked off her residency with this program, pairing Mozart violin concertos with a world premiere by German composer Wolfgang Rihm. Mutter, who first performed with the Philharmonic 30 years ago, is Musical America's Musician of the Year.
