Alan Gilbert Leads the New York Philharmonic in Premieres from Anderson, Matheson and Yim

Hear three exclusive Web casts of the New York Philharmonic, Music Director Alan Gilbert and Composer-in-Residence Magnus Lindberg's refreshing series, CONTACT!, devoted to New Music, world premiere performances, intimate venues and young, emerging composers. In two concerts held at the Metropolitan Museum and Symphony Space, respectively, Alan Gilbert lead a New Music squad in premiere performances from James Matheson, Julian Anderson and Jay Alan Yim.

Hosted by WNYC's own John Schaefer, the complete CONTACT! concert can be heard on Q2 on the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, December 23 at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 25 at 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 28 at 4 p.m.

For background into CONTACT!, tune in for a special Cued Up on Q2 this Sunday at 2 p.m. devoted to last season's inaugural series, hosted by composer Nico Muhly, whose Detailed Instructions was given its world premiere in April's CONTACT! concert. Another of that series's commissionees, Sean Shepherd, has also agreed to write a reaction to this season's installment.
