Ariadne auf Naxos, Richard Strauss' uniquely delectable opera-within-an-opera, returns to the Met in Elijah Moshinsky’s popular 1993 production. The Lithuanian soprano Violeta Urmana sings the prima donna (who portrays the mythic Ariadne in the opera within an opera); Joyce DiDonato makes her role debut as the Composer; the coloratura soprano Kathleen Kim sings the sassy entertainer Zerbinetta; and Thomas Allen is the Music Master. In the pit is Fabio Luisi, the Met’s principal guest conductor.

Cast Details:

Conductor: Fabio Luisi
Ariadne: Violeta Urmana
Zerbinetta: Kathleen Kim
Composer: Joyce DiDonato
Bacchus: Robert Dean Smith
Music Master: Thomas Allen
