Mozart, Mahler and a Thomas Adès Premiere

At 39, Thomas Adès is becoming one of the most in-demand composers of his generation, particularly in the orchestral and operatic arena. On this week's broadcast, he is the featured pianist in In Seven Days what he calls a "Concerto for Piano with Moving Image." The kaleidoscopic work, which was completed in 2008 and previously performed in London and Los Angeles, is the centerpiece of thi week's broadcast. Also on tap: baritone Thomas Hampson sings Mahler's Kindertotenlieder and Alan Gilbert leads the orchestra in Mozart's Symphony No. 40.
