This week, we take a special look at some of the past stars of the McGraw-Hill Companies Young Artists Showcase who have just been named among the most exciting emerging classical musicians of 2011 in the winter issue of Symphony Magazine. As a majority of the 58 selected instrumental soloists have already appeared on the Showcase, we're pleased to return to the performances of nine shining alumni.

Program Details:

Alexander Pushkarenko-- Sonata for Accordion, second and third movements, performed by Lidia Kaminska, accordion

Werner-Wolf Glaser-- Variations on a Gavotte by Corelli, performed by Doug O'Connor, saxaphone, Sonya Ovrutsky, piano

Modest Moussorgsky-- Nursery Suite, performed by Sarah Wolfson, soprano, with David Shimoni, piano

Béla Bartók-- Hungarian Folk Songs, performed by Claire Chase, flute, and Bridget Kibbey, harp

Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco-- Mexican Rondo, performed by João Luiz and Douglas Lora, known as the Brasil Guitar Duo, with Gary Sheldon leading the Lancaster Symphony
