This week on the McGraw-Hill Companies Young Artists Showcase we turn our attention to a group of promising performers from the Mannes College of Music here in Manhattan. This year marks the 95th anniversary of the founding of the College, and the 75th year of WQXR, but we're both young at heart.
The featured students from Mannes are violinists Yi-Chun Lin and Lisa Romain, violist Rose Hashimoto and cellist James Waldo. Together, they are known as the Hokapa Quartet.
Also this week, pianist and fellow Mannes student Jialiang Wu performs selections from Beethoven and Ravel. Wu recently won the Concerto Competition at Mannes and made his Alice Tully Hall debut last year with the Mannes Orchestra.
